  29. WHAT IS ROGER'S RAPID RESTART?
  30.  
  31.   Roger's Rapid Restart v3.1 gives you total control over exiting and
  32.   restarting Windows.  Roger's "Instant-Action" Hotkey gets you out with
  33.   no fuss.
  34.  
  35.   It allows you to:
  36.   
  37.     - Exit Windows
  38.     - Restart Windows without first going back to the DOS prompt
  39.     - Exit Windows, run a DOS application, and restart Windows without
  40.       further user intervention.  Great for DOS games!  A must for 
  41.       developers (instant switch between debug & retail binaries).
  42.     - Exit Windows and reboot your system.
  43.  
  44.   You can utilize our Rapid Restart (tm) feature to exit or restart Windows 
  45.   without the delays involved when each application is asked if it is OK to 
  46.   exit.  This is particularly handy if you are running applications that 
  47.   always ask before terminating (such as a DOS application).  You can also
  48.   run Roger's Rapid Restart with passed-in parameters and have full access
  49.   to its command set.

  52. INSTALLATION NOTES
  53.  
  54. If you are running a previous version of RRR, please shut it down
  55. before proceeding. You can do this by selecting "Remove" from the
  56. Options dialog in RRR.
  57.  
  58. Once you have unarchived (or copied) all of Roger's Rapid Restart's
  59. files to a directory on your hard disk (e.g., C:\RRR), run RESTART.EXE
  60. from Windows.  
  61.  
  62. The first time you run Roger's Rapid Restart, it will add itself to the
  63. LOAD= line in your WIN.INI file.   If you decide at a later date to
  64. discontinue using Roger's Rapid Restart, simply remove this entry from the
  65. LOAD= line.
  66.  
  67. Once installed, you can access Roger's Rapid Restart by pressing the
  68. activation key from within Windows (the default is the Pause key).
  69.  
  70. That's all there is to it!  We hope you enjoy the program.  The trial
  71. license for Roger's Rapid Restart allows you to use it for a period of 
  72. 21 days, after which time you must register it if you continue using it.

  75. TWO IMPORTANT CAVEATS (PLEASE READ)
  76.  
  77. 1. Use care when using the Rapid Restart (tm) method (selected by
  78.    pushing the "OK (Rapid)" button).  Depending on the options you have
  79.    chosen, you could lose unsaved work.
  80.    
  81.    Rapid Restart (tm) is a powerful feature that can greatly speed up the
  82.    process of exiting and/or restarting Windows.  It accomplishes this
  83.    by bypassing the normal asking of permission to exit from each active
  84.    application.  Under normal circumstances, this will not cause any
  85.    problems.  However, it is up to you to be sure that you don't have any
  86.    unsaved files open.  For example, let's assume you have configured
  87.    RRR to use the Rapid Restart mode on Windows apps and you have an
  88.    unsaved file in NOTEPAD.  If you exit Windows using Rapid Restart(tm), 
  89.    you will lose the contents of the file you were editing. 
  90.    Plannet Crafters is NOT liable for ANY damage you inflict upon
  91.    yourself!  Please refer to Configuring Roger's Rapid Restart for full
  92.    details on how to setup the Rapid Restart (tm) mode.

  94. 2. When you enter a DOS App in the "Exit, Execute DOS App, and
  95.    Restart Windows" options, you must enter the fully qualified path
  96.    with the file extension! (in other words, EDIT.COM won't work, but
  97.    C:\DOS\EDIT.COM will).  If you want to execute a batch file, you must
  98.    use something like, C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM /C C:\XYZ.BAT.

  103. Roger's Rapid Restart contains a complete User's Guide in its on-line
  104. help system.  You can select the "Help" button when the main dialog is
  105. displayed.

  108. IF YOU DON'T WANT RRR TO ADD ITSELF TO YOUR LOAD= LINE
  109.  
  110. To get the most benefit out of Roger's Rapid Restart, you should
  111. run it when Windows starts.  However, you might wish to run RESTART.EXE
  112. from your StartUp group as opposed to the LOAD= line.  If you have
  113. already installed RRR and want to run it from somewhere else, simply
  114. edit the WIN.INI file and remove its entry from the LOAD= line.  If
  115. you have not yet run RESTART.EXE, simply create a file called RESTART.INI
  116. in your Windows directory and add the following lines:

  122. OBTAINING THE MOST UP-TO-DATE VERSION OF RRR
  123.

  142. HOW TO DE-INSTALL ROGER'S RAPID RESTART
  143.  
  144. If you wish to de-install Roger's Rapid Restart from a system, 
  145. do the following:
  146.  
  147.         1) Disable the autoloading of RESTART.EXE when Windows
  148.            starts up.  By default, an entry is added to your
  149.            LOAD= line in the WIN.INI file.  Simply edit WIN.INI
  150.            and remove this entry.
  151.         2) Shutdown RRR by selecting "Remove" in the main dialog.
  152.         3) Delete all files in Roger's Rapid Restart's home directory
  153.            (assuming this directory contains ONLY RRR files!)

  156. CHANGE HISTORY
  157.  
  158. 1.00    - Initial Release.

  160. 2.00    - Major modifications.  Added lots of features, including a dialog
  161.           box interface and full parameter support.

  163. 3.00    - More major modifications.  Added a configuration dialog, reverted
  164.           to "Pause" as the default activation key, added Roger's

  169.           NumLock key to be turned off whenever the RRR dialog was
